In theaters: October 8th

Rogue Pictures have decided to strategically move the release date of Wes Craven’s latest, My Soul to Take, and thus avoid going up against fellow 3D horror flick, Saw 3D on October 29th. Now, opening three weeks earlier, My Soul To Take will hit theaters on October 8th.

The film’s first trailer, according to ShockTillYouDrop, will be hitting sometime in the next few weeks with it debuting in front of Piranha 3D and/or The Last Exorcism a week later. Stay tuned for more!

 

In the first time in 10 years, a new image of Ghostface has finally been unleashed through director Wes Craven’s Flickr account.

With the attached “He’s baaack!” message, the Craven-snapped pic [left] hopes to whet the fan’s appetite for the latest installment.

The Scream franchise, which began in 1996, has generated over $500 million at the worldwide box office. To date, it is one of the most successful horror franchises of all time. Dimension Films hopes to recapture some of that old magic when the film hits theaters on April 15th 2011.

In a surprise move, Lionsgate has pushed back the seventh installment to their popular franchise. Saw 3D will now open on October 29th.

Originally, it was pitted to go up against Paranormal Activity 2 on October 22nd, but instead opted to go up against Wes Craven’s latest, My Soul to Take, which also arrives in 3D.

Bob and Harvey Weinstein have had a much-publicized bad run over the years, which only got worse since their split from Walt Disney in 2005. Throughout their illustrious career, however, they have earned big bucks and an insane amount of accolades to go along with it. And while they may know how to get some great work out of some top flight directors, they haven’t had much luck with the horror genre. These films, in particular, are often plagued with problematic production schedules, being jerked from release date to release date, and of course, poor timing (“Grindhouse” on Good Friday, “Halloween: Resurrection” in July, “Wolf Creek” on Christmas Day; etc.). THR reports that Emma Roberts will be the new leading lady in the forthcoming Scream trilogy. The role, which was first offered to “Twilight” actress Ashley Greene, is the cousin of Sidney Prescott (played by the returning Neve Campbell).

Emma, the 19-year-old daughter of Eric Roberts, has starred in the feature version of “Nancy Drew” and was last seen in New Line’s ensemble romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day.”

As previously reported, Wes Craven is returning to the director’s chair for “Scream 4,” and Kevin Williamson is back writing the script.

Shooting begins this June in Michigan, and it will hit theaters on April 15th 2011.

According to Heat Vision, via Dark Horizons, Lake Bell (“It’s Complicated”) is in negotiations while Ashley Greene (“Twilight”), Hayden Panettiere (“Heroes”) and Rory Culkin (“Signs”) have all been offered key roles in the highly anticipated ”Scream 4″ for Dimension Films.

The film reunites director Wes Craven, writer Kevin Williamson and three of the original stars of the ultra-successful late 90’s trilogy – Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox. Read the rest of this entry »

Director Wes Craven has confirmed, via Entertainment Weekly, that he has signed on to direct all three films of the upcoming second “Scream” trilogy if “Scream 4″ proves be a success.

ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that Dimension Films is ready to go with the long awaited fourth installment of the popular Scream franchise, and have announced a Spring release date.

Scream 4, which will see horror legend Wes Craven returning to the director’s chair – as well as seeing returning cast members Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette – will open on Friday, April 15th 2011.
