In the first time in 10 years, a new image of Ghostface has finally been unleashed through director Wes Craven’s Flickr account.

With the attached “He’s baaack!” message, the Craven-snapped pic [left] hopes to whet the fan’s appetite for the latest installment.

The Scream franchise, which began in 1996, has generated over $500 million at the worldwide box office. To date, it is one of the most successful horror franchises of all time. Dimension Films hopes to recapture some of that old magic when the film hits theaters on April 15th 2011.

Bob and Harvey Weinstein have had a much-publicized bad run over the years, which only got worse since their split from Walt Disney in 2005. Throughout their illustrious career, however, they have earned big bucks and an insane amount of accolades to go along with it. And while they may know how to get some great work out of some top flight directors, they haven’t had much luck with the horror genre. These films, in particular, are often plagued with problematic production schedules, being jerked from release date to release date, and of course, poor timing (“Grindhouse” on Good Friday, “Halloween: Resurrection” in July, “Wolf Creek” on Christmas Day; etc.). Wes Craven’s My Soul to Take, formerly known as 25/8, will be hitting theaters on October 29th and it will do so in 3D, according to ShockTillYouDrop. The long delayed Rogue/Universal pic is currently in the stage of being converted, but it is not known whether Craven is overseeing the process as he is currently busy with Scream 4.

My Soul to Take, which is written and directed by the legendary filmmaker, deals with a serial killer who vowed to return from the grave to kill the seven children that were born the night he died.

ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that Dimension Films is ready to go with the long awaited fourth installment of the popular Scream franchise, and have announced a Spring release date.

Scream 4, which will see horror legend Wes Craven returning to the director’s chair – as well as seeing returning cast members Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette – will open on Friday, April 15th 2011.
