Writer-Director George A. Romero does not seem to be done with the Dead just yet. With his latest entry, Survival of the Dead (our review), hitting shelves this Tuesday, Romero spoke with Dread Central and had this to say:

“I have plans for two more Dead movies. Just like Survival they revolve around more characters from Diary. The next one I’d like to make will focus on the African-American guys who were like a band of looters. If Survival makes money, it’ll happen. I want to shoot it noir style with maybe an abandoned building or factory as the setting. Something lit a specific way to cast these huge shadows. The next one after that would focus on the Texas girl who escaped from the mansion. She’s got a story to tell I think.”

Romero also told the site that he has no longer interested nor attached to Dario Agento’s Deep Red remake.

According to Twitch Film, David Gordon Green’s proposed remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria is at long last moving forward. Producer Marco Morabito has confirmed, via Italian website Bad Taste, that after nine months of discussions Argento has finally released the rights to the film because he is “convinced that his movie is a masterpiece and can’t be overshadowed.” Gotta love the modesty!

Morabito also confirmed that there is a script, a studio attached and the shooting will start at the beginning of the new year. And yes, David Gordon Green will be directing. Stay tuned for more!

[UPDATE - 5/19/10] – In an interview with Fangoria, Romero stated that there is no deal in place as of yet, and he will not move forward with the project if Argento disapproves.

Variety is reporting that horror legend George A. Romero will tackle on a 3D remake to Dario Argento’s 1975 cult classic, Deep Red.

The Romero-helmed redo is being set up as an Italo-Canadian co-production by Italian producer Claudio Argento via his Opera Film shingle. Robbie Little’s The Little Company is preselling the pic in Cannes. Claudio Argento, who is Dario’s brother and regular producer, has penned the screenplay for Romero’s redo which has plans to start shooting this fall in Canada.

According to ShockTillYouDrop, word out of the Cannes Film Festival is that Dario Argento will direct a faithful, 3D interpretation to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Production will begin in Italy, with filming set to roll in January.

The site states that “FilmExport Group is handling the sales at Cannes right now” and the synopsis for the film is indeed  “a faithful translation of the Bram Stoker novel.” Roberto Girolamo and Gianni Paolucci will produce. For more, click here.
